Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide assistance and support to individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping participants with daily living activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence and community integration.
You will take your lead from the person themselves and the Care Coordinator who will instruct you on how the person would like to use their NDIS Funding. Ensuring continuity of care, you will complete the required documentation prior to the end of your allocated shift.
Additionally, you will be conversant with and comply with all ITEC Health Policies & Procedures.
Shifts to cover are the following:
Monday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Shifts will increase to 3 days per week from June.
Responsibilities:
- Assist participants with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to participants.
- Help participants with mobility and transportation needs.
- Administer medication and monitor health conditions.
- Assist with meal preparation and household tasks.
- Implement individualised care plans.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Current NDIS Worker Clearance and Working With Children Check.
- National police screening check (must be younger than 3 three months old) or ability to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Hold current QLD Drivers Licence, highly desirable to have own insured vehicle.
- Formal qualifications in Disability support or related field, e.g. Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability) or Diploma or higher qualifications in Community Services.
- NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission Worker Orientation Module completed.
- Rights to work in Australia (Citizen or permanent resident).
- Vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor.
