Empower Living, a NDIS registered organisation in Canberra specialising in complex client cohorts.
We are looking for skilled, professional, enthusiastic, and experienced staff to support a female client with autism in the Wallaga Lake area.
We are looking for availability weekly on Thursdays 10.30am to 5pm + potential for Monday & Sunday 9am to 3pm. This position would best suit someone living in Narooma (20min away from the participant), Bermagui (15min) or Cobargo (20min)
Qualifications & experience
- Experience in disability care especially mental health disorders
- Have an outgoing personality with a good sense of humour
- Have full driving licence and access to a fully insured car
- Must have a genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
- Have a strong background in mental health
- Be soft-spoken while firm enough to set boundaries according to the protocols and guidelines provided
- Have excellent communication skills and be proficient in English
- Be able to create rapport with the client and provide emotional support with demonstrated effective listening, empathy, and communication skills
- Have previous experience and skills in de-escalation techniques
Tasks & responsibilities
- Engaging with her, community access, grocery shopping, going for walks etc.
- Providing emotional support when needed and following the set protocols
- Prompting and assisting in all daily house chores and skill building
- Communicating with her according to her interests and needs
- Write regular reports and collect data for ongoing communication with clients and management
- Drive her to and from appointments
- Being an attentive and caring Support Worker
