Headway ABI is a not-for-profit community organisation specialising in supporting participants to enhance their independence and lifestyle, while living with neurological or physical disability due to Acquired Brain Injury. Headway ABI promotes independence, self-confidence, and self-improvement and facilitates community participation. Headway ABI is a registered NDIS provider offering a range of services and opportunities to empower our clients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and lifestyle in our residential houses (Supported Independent Living) and the within the community.

About the Role:
Our compassionate Disability Support Workers provide exceptional residential and community support to our clients in our Headway ABI residential houses, nursing care residences, private homes and within the community in accordance with the client’s NDIS support plan. This may include helping with personal care, meal preparations and feeding, medications, sleepovers, and transporting clients to and from social and community engagement activities, appointments and shopping.
About You:
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, compassionate and dedicated to empowering people with disability.
- Flexible, reliable and provide exceptional and effective support to people with disabilities.
- Demonstrate integrity and take responsibility for outcomes.
- Willing and able to commit to a 24/7 roster.
- An understanding, genuine respect and appreciation of the varying impairments and barriers experienced by people living with an Acquired Brain Injury or disability.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of the NDIS practice standards and legislative requirements within the NDIS Disability Support services framework.
Highly Desirable:
- Certificate III in Disability or a similar qualification deemed to be of equal standing or willingness to obtain
- 12 months experience working in the disability industry or completion of recent training placement
- Current NDIS Workers Screening (Yellow card) or ability to apply for NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
- Current unrestricted Queensland Driver’s License.
- Access to a registered, road worthy car with full comprehensive insurance.
