About the Role
We are looking to hire Disability Support Workers for our home-care clients in their residential accommodation in the Perth Metro. The role of the Disability Support Worker is to work with clients within the NDIS funding framework, providing support to people with disability and/or psychosocial needs. You will promote and demonstrate positive behaviours, learning experiences and skill development for participants.
Supervisory roles are also available- Applicants will primarily work in one location providing assistance to the client/s and maintaining their lifestyle and home with the assistance of the Support Worker team. Supervisory applicants will work closely with the Support Coordinator Monday-Friday to maintain the successful running of the broader home environment and schedule.
Although this posting is for Full-Time applicants, the position can be made Part-Time should the right fit present.
Key duties and responsibilities- Disability Support Worker
Taking clients out for social outings and activities, shopping trips or GP/specialist appointments.
Providing personal care and assisting the client with maintaining their hygiene.
Domestic duties and meal preparation/eating assistance.
Challenging behaviour management.
Assisting with basic medical care such as administering medication, monitoring blood sugar levels and providing insulin.
Key duties and responsibilities- Supervisor
Assisting with budget management inclusive of weekly shopping and personal spending.
Planning the participants schedule and maintaining/monitoring the calendar and activities that are organised.
Monitoring and reviewing house and participant cleanliness, training staff and reporting discrepancies where noticed.
Running buddy shifts for Support Workers, outlining house/participant specific information.
Identifying risks/issues/points of interest to be discussed with administration and topics to be presented house meetings.
Represent the company with external stakeholders for a specific client such as family/guardians/other care providers.
About you
The ideal candidate will pride themselves on their ability to deliver person-centered care that values the choice and goals of the client. They will have the people skills to build and maintain meaningful, lasting relationships with their clients. They will also demonstrate a commitment to being a productive and positive member of the broader home and community team.
As well as the above skills, the Key Requirements include:
NDIS Worker Screening Check and NDIS Training Modules.
Manual Handling Certificate.
Valid First-Aid and CPR Certificate/s.
Proof of working rights - Passport, Visa, Citizenship
Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
Working with Children Check issued in Western Australia.
Experienced with challenging behavior
