Lutheran Disability Services supports people with disability and their families with accommodation support (including independent living) and community participation. We support people to connect to their community, learn new skills, increase independence and access accommodation support across metro Adelaide and in the Barossa and the Hills. Our support staff are passionate about supporting people to identify and achieve their goals, connect to their faith and build new friendships through positive engagement in a client-centred way.
About the role
We have casual opportunities for experienced Support Workers who will be responsible for various activities that may include personal care, domestic duties, spiritual and social support and transportation. You must have a current South Australian Driver’s licence and be willing to transport clients in your own vehicle.
These positions involve shift work, and you will need to be available to work flexible shifts that may include a combination of mornings, evenings, and weekends and overnights.
About our ideal candidates
You must be a calm, nurturing individual who is able to develop rapport with people with intellectual disabilities. You must also be passionate about developing a valued lifestyle for people living with a Disability; playing an important role in their journey of faith and a more independent and fulfilled life.
You will also need to have:
- Experience managing and responding to difficult and/or challenging behaviours of varying levels either in a work setting or through personal experience.
- Minimum Certificate III Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent or able to prove that you are working towards.
- Current South Australian Driver’s license (P2 as a minimum) and willing to transport clients in your own registered and insured vehicle.
- Current Provide First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Current DHS (DCSI) Disability Employment Screening Clearance/NDIS Worker Check (required prior to commencement - we can help you with this).
- Manual Handling and Medication Administration Certification (Desirable).
- Proof of x3 covid vaccinations must be provided.
