About Us
At A Wood Shed, we strive to be more than just a timber and hardware store. We're a passionate team dedicated to helping builders and DIYers of all levels bring their projects to life. We pride ourselves on delivering quality materials, expert advice, and friendly service that keeps our customers coming back. We have stores located in Darra and Brassall, and are open Monday to Friday: 6:00am to 4:30pm, and Saturday: 8:00am to 12:00pm. (The Darra Store is not opened on Saturdays).
The Role
We're seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Darra Team as the Dispatch Coordinator. This key role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of materials to customer sites, while upholding our commitment to outstanding service.
Dispatch Coordination:
- Manage, plan and coordinate outgoing orders to ensure timely deliveries to customer sites.
- Coordinate efficient collection of materials from suppliers.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with the team to ensure work flow outcomes are met i.e. drivers/operators, yard staff, sales team.
- Proactively communicate with customers and suppliers regarding pick-ups, deliveries, and any potential issues.
- Liaise with other internal departments regarding stock and accounts/payments to identify and resolve any discrepancies which may cause dispatch delays.
- Actively monitor and update computer system information to reflect changes in dispatch schedules, materials and quantities.
- Process and receipt incoming goods into computer system.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to handle diverse daily challenges and ensure smooth dispatch operations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of deliveries, as per NHVR requirements.
- Ensure dispatch planning adheres to all applicable WHS regulations.
Customer Service:
- Maintain our positive customer service image by providing exceptional customer service
- Take orders and process customer requests efficiently and accurately (when required).
- Contribute to team success by assisting with general office tasks as needed.
Other:
- Early starts and reasonable overtime will be required.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a similar dispatch or logistics role, preferably within the timber and hardware industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, proficient in multi-tasking and prioritising tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Intermediate proficiency in computer software programs relevant to inventory and dispatch operations.
- Thorough understanding of delivery areas and heavy vehicle regulations within Southeast Queensland.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Commitment to adhering to company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and responsible driving practices.
