Our client is seeking to engage a Divisional Accountant.
Location: Braddon, ACT
Contract Length: 6 months with 1 X 6-month extension option
Eligibility/Security Requirement:Australian Citizenship
People who are successful in this position must have the following prerequisites:
- Tertiary accounting or business management qualifications, preferably with CA or CPA
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of financial control and management of a diverse business environment – both in government and private organization
- Experience working within small teams
- Practical understanding and experience in contemporary budgeting, activity-based costing (ABC), job costing accounting and zero-based budgeting (ZBB) techniques, in complex operating environments
- Demonstrated experience in representing the financial affairs of an entity and in communicating and liaising with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including close attention to detail
- Strong spreadsheet and database skills
- Experience working with and administering Technology 1 finance system would be an advantage.
Major areas of Responsibility:
The scope of responsibilities include:
- Complete ownership of budget development and management - Operating and Capital
- Financial forecasting and modelling
- Preparation of journals, reconciliations and data analysis
- Preparation of monthly management reports and discussing results with managers and executive directors
- Assisting with complex business analysis and financial modelling
- End of month reporting, fringe benefits tax and end of financial year audit support; and
- Undertake data collation for Cost Recovery Impact Statement, ABC and ZBB analysis
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships between Finance and Business Services and the divisions
- Actively participate in and provide advice to projects on the financial impact of project change requests
- Provide oversight and advice to the division to ensure compliance with Agency’s financial, procurement and contract management policies to ensure a consistent approach to financial management
- Provide financial advice and administrative support to divisions
- When required, provide lateral support to other Finance Business Partners
- Demonstrate and commit to the Agency’s Code of Conduct and Values
- Finance and Business Services team
