Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
As the Technical Writer/Document Controller, you will manage Maintenance Department controlled documents - including both documents in the Document Management System (SharePoint) and those linked into the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP)
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
- Ensure documentation is maintained to site standards and effectively managed in SharePoint
- Support with technical writing expertise, ensuring documents align with site and South32 standards
- Run monthly reports on the status of the document management system and publish to Maintenance Leadership
- Ensure documents are reviewed and approved in timeframes set by site standards and archived in line with site processes
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- A commitment to safety and continuous improvement
- Previous experience in a similar role within Mining or Heavy Industry
- Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
- Experience using SAP, Visio and Publisher highly desirable
- Expertise in technical writing of procedures, safe work instructions and forms
- In-depth knowledge of site safety policies and procedures
Qualifications for this position are:
- Mechanical or Electrical trade background is preferred
