As part of HBT Australia, Waratah Engineering, Argenton is a leading manufacturer of underground mining equipment. We manufacture and support custom-built mining equipment such as shuttle cars, feeder breakers and multi-bolters as well as offering bespoke remanufacturing services for other underground equipment.
About the role:
The Documentation and Technical Writer will use their skills and experience to craft clear, concise guides and manuals to assist our team to navigate our products effortlessly. The role will include collaboration with stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy, accessibility, and communication all while maintaining HBT’s high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
The Documentation and Technical Writer’s Key responsibilities are:
- Compiling dossiers pertaining to plant safety, ensuring comprehensive documentation in line with HBT’s policies and timeframes.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including manuals, guides, and procedures, pertaining to mechanical systems used in HBT’s operations.
- Collaborating closely with engineers, technicians, and other subject matter experts to gather accurate information and ensure technical accuracy in documentation.
- Translating complex mechanical concepts and procedures into clear, user-friendly language suitable for diverse audiences.
- Providing training and support to internal stakeholders on the use and interpretation of technical documentation.
- Researching industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and accuracy in Documentation and noting any changes.
- Preparing commissioning documents detailing procedures, checklists, and guidelines for the installation, testing, and validation of mechanical systems during project commissioning phases.
- Reviewing and revising existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and relevance based on user feedback and evolving technical requirements.
- Managing Documentation and version control systems to ensure access, organization, and traceability of documentation assets.
- Working closely with project teams to document new mechanical systems, upgrades, and modifications throughout their lifecycle.
About you:
Desirable Qualifications:
- Mechanical Trade or relevant field and/or;
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
- Knowledge of AS3800 Electrical Standard.
- Inventor Vault experience.
Previous Knowledge & Experience:
- Knowledge of mining machinery.
- Experience in training & assessing (desirable).
- Experience in developing training resources and assessments.
- Understanding of electro-hydraulic systems and interactions between mechanical and electrical components.
- Experience in using cameras and camera software for image capture and development.
- Experience in developing training resources, assessments, and presentations.
Desirable Skills:
- General computer skills and knowledge of PC operation and functions.
- Ability to function office stationery, such as paper shears, punches, stamps, and binders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe software.
- Ability to plan and schedule tasks efficiently.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with customers and workshop staff for positive outcomes.
