PUPSTARS GROOMING is seeking a compassionate and reliable Dog Handler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for dogs, excellent communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility. As a Dog Handler, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and supervision for our furry guests, ensuring they receive the attention, exercise, and enrichment they need to thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor dogs in playgroups, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Engage dogs in interactive play and enrichment activities to promote physical and mental stimulation.
- Provide basic obedience training and reinforce positive behaviors using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in dog play areas, including regular cleaning and disinfection of toys, surfaces, and equipment.
- Monitor dogs for signs of illness, injury, or behavioural issues and report any concerns to management or veterinary staff.
- Assist with feeding, administering medications, and providing general care for dogs according to their individual needs.
- Interact with clients and provide updates on their dog's activities, behaviour, and well-being.
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding dog handling, safety protocols, and customer service standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance dog handling skills and knowledge.
- Preferred AQF Certificate in relevant field.
- Minimum 2-3 years work experience in Dog handing.
- Previous experience working with dogs in a professional setting, such as a dog daycare, boarding facility, or animal shelter, preferred.
- Strong understanding of dog behaviour, body language, and pack dynamics.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-energy or stressful situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with dogs and clients.
- Certification in pet first aid and CPR preferred.
- Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing the highest level of care for dogs in our facility.
The role offers a remuneration package ranging $65,000 - $80,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
