Mulungu is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation focused on providing holistic services to improve health and well-being outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the Mareeba and Atherton Tablelands areas.
About the role:The role of Domestic and Family Violence Practitioneris requiredwithin the Mulungu's Social Services Team to provide specialised Domestic and Family Violence practice support for the portfolio of social services within the organisation. Through the use of coaching methodologies, you will assist case managers to recognise and respond appropriately to families experiencing Domestic and Family Violence and undertake risk assessments where Domestic and Family Violence is identified.
About you:- Possession of tertiary level qualification in the social or behavioural sciences (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) or working towards a relevant degree with significant experience to enable you to competently perform all requirements of the position.
- Experience in related field required.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander communities and understanding of indigenous history and cultural lifestyles.
SC 1 Demonstrated understanding of Domestic and Family Violence, including knowledge of cultural differences and needs and its effects on women, children and adolescents and other issues affecting child welfare, such as child abuse. An understanding of the gendered analysis of Domestic and Family Violence is also required to be demonstrated.
SC 2 Extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise and network with a range of stakeholders and articulate the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
SC 3 Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision, together with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, prioritise and meet deadlines, deal with matters of a sensitive and confidential nature and meet organisational demands.
SC 4 Demonstrated ability to implement case management approaches to service delivery including the ability to undertake crisis intervention and work with individuals and families with complex needs.
SC 5 Demonstrated knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of legislation impacting on situations of Domestic and Family Violence.
SC 6 Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office applications and other client management systems.
Additional Factors- Possession of a current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence (Queensland) is required.
- Willingness to undergo an Australian Federal Police Check.
- Must hold a current Working with Children Blue Card (required prior to commencement)
