We are looking for a Disability Educator Support who will be responsible for delivering high quality music/drama programs and support in response to the needs and interests of participants.
What this role involves
Working alongside Campus Coordinators and Educators, Educator Supports are responsible for delivering high quality programs and support in response to the needs and interests of participants.
You will:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of programs that are outcome focused and meet participant goals and aspirations
- Support participants to engage in recreational and learning programs
- Ensure the well-being and safety of participants, and exercise a duty of care to participants, other staff and members of the community
- Monitor and support the safe involvement of participants in community-based activities
- Work cooperatively and maintain effective communication in a manner appropriate to participant needs
- Provide personal care in a responsible and safe manner.
- Commit to putting people at the centre of everything you do
- Have experience and/or special interest in working with people with an intellectual disability, including people with additional complex needs
- Have proficiency in Drama/Music skills, and an ability to teach and inspire students
Eligibility:
- A current Drivers’ License
- Your Working with Children Check and an NDIS Workers’ Screening Check
- The right qualifications: A Cert 3 in Disability or another relevant field. If you have a disability or community services qualification or are working towards one, that’s even better.
- Knowledge and understanding: You’ll be across the essential principles of the Disability Services Act 2006, the NDIS and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards standards. Plus, you’ll have experience upholding quality safeguards for people with a disability, and a sound knowledge of the Victorian Charter of Human Rights.
