Dual Qualified Registered Nurse-Midwife (RN/RM) - Emergency Department
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Join the team in our dynamic and fast-paced Emergency Department where you will provide care for women who present with a variety of problems occurring in the early pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal periods. We also care for women with acute gynaecological problems and neonates up to 2 weeks old.
As a Dual Qualified Registered Nurse-Midwife, you will:
- Provide exceptional clinical service as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary hospital team.
- Practice in accordance to the Mercy values and act in a position of advocacy for the woman and her family
- Be located at Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg
- Have flexible rostering options in line with the demands of the department
- Have access to professional development opportunities
- Be classified as a Grade 2
ABOUT YOU:
- Nurse and Midwifery Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (essential)
- Over four years’ relevant experience as a Registered Midwife (essential)
- Recent knowledge of all areas of midwifery practice and experience in working in Birthing Services, Emergency, Critical care and Gynaecological experience (desirable)
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications (desirable)
- Current competency in RANZCOG Fetal Surveillance Program or equivalent
- Neonatal resuscitation, Adult resuscitation and completion of all other mandatory competencies upon commencement of employment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, prioritisation and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and be able to build good working relationships to foster a collaborative approach to care

The hospital cares for public and private patients across maternity, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative, gynaecology, and women’s health services.
Mercy Hospital for Women is a leader in research and teaching, particularly in relation to women’s and newborn’s health. WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
