Your Role
To collaborate with a team of educators to ensure that high quality education and care programs are delivered responsively and inclusively across the service. To implement an approved learning framework, and support children's wellbeing, learning and development.
You will also:
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYLF and QKLG
- Prepare, implement and evaluate the educational programs for individual children and groups
- Promote a sense of belonging through engaging in meaningful, respectful and reciprocal interactions
- Maintain Children's portfolios, drawing from the EYLF, theorists and pedagogy
- Supervise children's activities to ensure the safety of each child at all times
- Record observations of individual children and groups; assess learning and use for program planning
- Collaborate with all team members to establish learning environments that challenge and extend children's learning and play
- Acknowledge families as a valuable resource and develop and maintain positive relationships with them based on mutual respect and open communication
- Share child development knowledge with parents and other professionals
- Communicate development to parents, carers and other professionals (beginning and end of day hand overs) whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Participate in school readiness programs in collaboration with the Director and Hamilton Island State School
- Respond to concerns in a timely manner, directing them to the Director as appropriate
- Maintain a clean, healthy and educational environment for children to play and learn
- Direct and supervise Childcare Assistants ensuring a high level of quality care is provided at all times
- Adhere to all licensing requirements, ensuring a high quality of care is provided
- Contribute to an atmosphere of trust and professional respect through an attitude of openness, tolerance, constructive conflict resolution processes and maintenance of confidentiality
- Assist the Director of Childcare with preparing policies and quality improvement plans to support the implementation of the National Quality Framework, Regulations and Law
- Ensure that WH&S standards are maintained at all times following reporting procedures as per HIE and childcare policies
- Attend and participate in staff meetings
- Assist across all childcare facilities as required
About You
You possess outstanding communication skills, maintaining a positive and helpful attitude. Your presentation and grooming are impeccable. You excel as a team player, demonstrating a high level of care, attention to detail, and reliability.
You will also have:
- Approved ECT Qualification on the ACECQA's list (Essential)
- Current QLD Blue Card (Essential)
- Current HLTAID012 Childcare First Aid certificate (Essential)
- 2-3 years' experience in working with children aged between 6 weeks to 6 years of age (Preferred)
