Job description

The Role

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs, promoting safety and service excellence. This will be achieved by leading and mentoring a high performing, skilled and engaged team and by ensuring an inclusive and fun environment in which children are safe, engaged and well supervised. 
The YMCA Canberra Region operates a number of Early Learning Centres within ACT Region and the Early Learning Manager is accountable to the Executive Manager, Children Services of the YMCA for the overall operation, leadership, and administration of the Early Learning Centres, ensuring that:
- YMCA of Canberra Early Learning Centres programs grow in line with the organisation’s missions, strategic goals, and commercial expectations.
- Engaged and committed leadership is provided to ensure quality care, recreation, and leisure programs for children.
- Direction, support, and continuous learning for staff will be provided.
- A vibrant, interesting, varied, and appropriate children’s program is developed and implemented to meet the ongoing needs of the children.
- The philosophy, policies and procedures of the services are upheld, implemented, and reviewed regularly to meet relevant requirements.
- All services attain and maintain at least a ‘Meeting’ standard through Assessment and Ratings
- All relevant legal and statutory requirements are monitored, complied with, and implemented.
- The children and families of the Early Learning community are encouraged to contribute to the quality and success of the service.

To be successful in this position you will need to possess:

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or above.
  • Experience with the Assessment and Rating process.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Expert working knowledge of the EYLF and NQF
  • ACT Working With Vulnerable People Check.
  • First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
