About the role
The opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Earth Science Laboratory Technician to join our organisation on a full-time basis. The candidate will be responsible for overall lab and sampling operations to assist our Marine Operations and Inspections. The position will be based residentially in the remote Pilbara coastal towns of Port Hedland, Karratha, Dampier area and Fremantle in Western Australia. The position will primarily involve the following duties:
- Prep Lab facility services encompassing all clients' shipments and external 3rd party samples prep work and analysis.
- Supervise and conduct laboratory experiments, tests and analyses
- Supervise and conduct daily lab operations such as milling, crushing, sizing, moisture determination etc. including daily planning of job completion schedule to achieve agreed turnaround time, scheduling of lab and sampling staff to ensure optimum man-hour cost.
- Collect information and samples.
- Preparation of reports and invoices
- Present results in graphic or written form by preparing maps charts, sketches, diagrams and reports
- Control the quality and quantity of laboratory supplies by testing samples and monitoring usage.
- Maintain records of essential equipment and order as required.
- Provide emergency back up and problem solving
- Schedule and perform regular checking and maintenance (both preventive and breakdown) of laboratory equipment.
- Record and update all the testing parameters data in the prescribed format on a daily basis and report to different client/company management.
- Ensure all shipment sampling and analyses are conducted and reported within expected turnaround times.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is well maintained and calibrated and ensure high-quality laboratory consumables
- Ensure all analyses, reports and invoices are completed on time and are accurate and within turnaround times required.
- Ensure efficient use of the operations assets including maintenance and control of cost.
- Assist with the set-up and modification of systems and equipment to achieve and maintain quality accreditation.
- Ensure team growth and development by mentoring and regular training of staff and maintaining a congenial and productive workplace
Qualifications required
Relevant Australian Qualification or Overseas Equivalent
Relevant 2-3 years work experience
Salary
$70,000 - $80,000 plus Super
