Ecc Veterinarian

Global Veterinary Careers are working with an Emergency referral hospital based in Cairns. We are looking for an ECC Vet that will be responsible for primary consultations with clients, medical and surgical treatment of inpatients, running the hospital during their duty shift and managing the activities of nurses whilst under their guidance.The Emergency Veterinarian is a vital member of our Emergency and Critical Care team, playing a key role in delivering exceptional veterinary care during urgent situations.Responsibilities:Patient care:

• Provide rapid and appropriate triage and pain relief to patients under their care.
• Respond promptly to emergency cases, applying advanced skills in critical care to stabilise and treat patients.
• Conduct thorough physical examinations and diagnostics of patients under their care.
• Undertake and interpret diagnostic imaging to inform accurate and timely decision-making.
• Perform emergency surgeries as required.
• Monitor and create medical treatment plans for animals under their care.

Client care:

• Undertake primary consultations and ongoing updates regarding patient care.
• Interact compassionately with pet owners, offering clear explanations and guidance during challenging situations.
• Discuss consent and financial implications and updates in line with the practice policies

Medical Records and Documentation:

• Maintain meticulous and up-to-date medical records for all patients including diagnostic and surgical reports.
• Ensure thorough and clear discharge instructions are provided to pet owners.

Continuing Education:

• Stay up to date in emergency and critical care through continuous learning and training.
• Share acquired knowledge with the team during training sessions.

Internal communication:

• Communicate openly with other veterinary surgeons regarding the treatment of their patients.
• Guide and instruct nurses under their supervision regarding patient care.
• Be open to bi-directional communication from the management team.
