Embark on a unique opportunity to shape Economic Development in one of Australia’s most culturally rich regions. The Torres Strait Island Regional Council is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Economic Development Lead. This position is pivotal in fostering sustainable growth in our vibrant island communities.
As the Economic Development Lead, you will play a crucial role in steering the design, delivery, and implementation of the Council’s Economic Development Strategy. Your focus will be on creating models and support structures for sustainable enterprise, emphasising tourism, arts, and fisheries as key areas of growth.
You will engage with the private sector, facilitating investment, including philanthropy, seed funding, partnerships, and strategic sourcing models. Plan, coordinate, and manage the scoping, development, and implementation phases of projects. Build internal networks and supportive relationships with key stakeholders. Leading the evolution of data capture and reporting capabilities using Council-preferred software and systems is part of this role.
Tertiary qualifications, 5+ years in Economic Development, leadership and change management experience and strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Knowledge of Torres Strait languages is desirable.
Work from Cairns or any of the Torres Strait Islands.
