The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for to join the Finance and Strategy Group, helping the team move forward in a period of transformation. The long-term strategy is to continually move towards an enabling environment where manual processes are streamlined, and data is used to drive smart business decisions as well as implementing a new corporate services delivery model which has resulted in a wide range of opportunities.
In the role of Economic Regulations Team Leader, with one direct report, you will be responsible for managing the relationship with Regulatory agencies and developing and maintain the pricing model. You will have the opportunity to integrate a recently established function within Icon Water and utilise your expertise to establish industry best practice. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive change and make a lasting impact on the ongoing financial success of Icon Water.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the long-term financial strategy and providing strategic advice to the Icon Water Executive Team and Board on the financial sustainability of Icon Water
- Create the 5-year workplan to align long term financial strategies into Icon Water pricing submission and associated activities
- Provide support to embed the newly created economic regulatory function and processes across Icon Water
- Lead and manage regulatory activities, including maintaining a strong relationship with the Regulators and owning the pricing model; including leading the quarterly and annual performance meetings with ICRC
- Manage the pricing review process, including preparation and submission of economic regulatory submissions, for both the annual and 5-year pricing submission made to the Regulator
- Develop strategies and implement plans to ensure Icon Water delivers the outcomes set by ICRC as part of their pricing decision
- Ensure the maintenance of the regulatory asset records and associated master data
- Manage economic consultants and any future strategic partner relations and manage the contractual obligations with the partner
The ideal candidate for the Economic Regulations Team Leader position will possess a Bachelor's degree in economics or finance. They should have a proven track record of leadership in economic regulation, with a minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience, including in managerial roles.
A strong comprehension of regulatory frameworks, pricing mechanisms, and financial modelling is essential, alongside exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to navigate intricate regulatory landscapes, drive strategic initiatives, and effectively manage teams to deliver tangible results.
Salary / Rate
The salary band starts at $176,751 + 15% Super.
