You would work with teaching staff in the delivery of their planned education programs to ensure that Deaf and Hard of Hearing students can access their learning programs, including meeting Individual Education Plan goals. Ideally the Education Assistant – Auslan would have experience working with students with disabilities.The successful applicant will ideally have a passion for working with students with special needs and be committed to maximising their impact on student learning. You will ideally embrace evidence-based strategies in place across the school to meet the needs of students. You will ideally contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with staff to support student achievement. Under teacher direction, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. An ability to work with students in out-of-class activities, during breaks in the school day, and on school excursions is advantageous.We are seeking an enthusiastic team member who is committed to building their professional capacity through continuous professional learning, self-reflection and engaging in initiatives that support improved practice. Staff in our school attend weekly after-school meetings for whole school development, planning, data analysis and professional learning. - Well developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, liaise with parents, teachers and community members and where necessary assist teachers in understanding students.
- Well developed organisational skills, including the ability to contribute to a professional team and deliver an effective education program.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues relevant to deaf or hard of hearing students.
- A three (3) page statement addressing the Work Related Requirements (selection criteria), in context of the role and business needs of the school
- A CV outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position
