  • Located at the Susan Wakil Health Building on the Camperdown Campus
  • Full time and part time continuing position, offering a remuneration package starting from $83, 454 - $167,221 p.a + 17% superannuation

The Discipline of Occupational Therapy is a global leader in allied health. We are at the forefront of enhancing Occupational Therapy practice, policy and education in Australia by extending the knowledge base of the profession and educating leading practitioners. The Sydney School of health Sciences is ranked 4th in the world for sports related subjects encompassing sport, physical therapy, and rehabilitation, which includes Occupational Therapy. We are seeking an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer (Level A, B & C) in the discipline ofOccupational Therapywho is enthusiastic to advance health education for the next generation of occupational therapists to improve health outcomes for all communities.

This is a continuing Education focused (up to 70%) position and offers an opportunity to dedicate the majority of their contribution to education in Occupational Therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Level A:

  • Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for education
  • design and deliver multi-disciplinary work-integrated learning units and content
  • engage in supervision of higher-degree research student
  • apply scholarship and knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education
  • contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
  • undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

Level B:

  • Design and deliver quality educational units of study and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements
  • develop educational resources which reflect contemporary and innovative practices within the discipline
  • apply burgeoning expertise in pedagogy to provide training and support to other academic staff on effective and innovative educational practice
  • undertake a leadership role in educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding educational delivery and outcomes.

In addition a Level C will:

  • Play a leadership role in educational innovation, curriculum design and review
  • develop, trial and evaluate innovative practices in teaching and learning with a view to improving educational outcome
  • engage in innovative curriculum design based on systematic and evidence-based review of contemporary and/or discipline-specific teaching methods and techniques.

About you

  • A degree in the discipline of Occupational Therapy
  • Clinical experience as an occupational therapist in neurology, community practice, occupational/ work rehabilitation or clinical education highly desirable
  • eligibility for registration with AHPRA Australia or existing registrationr with AHPRA is desirable
  • proven experience in supervising and mentoring students
  • experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings
  • a developing network of relationships with key academics, industry and professionals institutions, partners and stakeholders
  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
  • have a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector.

Level B:

  • Broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
  • extremely well-developed network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
  • experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities.

In addition level C must have:

  • Proven deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by leading team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
  • demonstrated success in supporting the academic endeavour from curriculum design to engaging in research/scholarship and providing a student enabling environment
  • significant proven experience in supervising others and coordinating team activities.
