The purpose of this position is to improve the health of people living in South Western Sydney by contributing to Health Promotion programs of work in line with South Western Sydney Local Health District and the Ministry of Health’s goals, principles, and strategies.The Health Promotion Officer will primarily work in the Early Years & Ageing stream and contribute to evidence based and/or innovative programs of work for population health priorities. The Health Promotion Officer may also work on projects from the Health & Wellbeing stream as required.The HPO will primarily be responsible for working with the team to:

• deliver all stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting and sustainability of programs promoting healthy eating and active living in the older population.
• implement the delivery and monitoring of falls prevention across SWSLHD with local level tailoring and adaptation as needed.

The Health Promotion Officer will plan, implement and evaluate programs that promote healthy eating and active living in the older population. They will also be responsible for supporting and implementing falls prevention programs across South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), with local level tailoring and adaptation as needed.Where You'll Be Working

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Health Promotion planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination particularly relating to healthy eating and active living in the older population.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current Health Promotion theory and evidence-based practice.
• Understanding of issues that may impact service delivery in priority populations including social disadvantage, Aboriginal and CALD communities.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain partnerships with other staff and government, non-government and community organisations.
• Effective organisational, problem solving and team skills including the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, including skills in use of common computer packages preferably Microsoft Office, MS Outlook, social media and some desktop publishing skills.
• Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
