About the role
YWCA Canberra are looking for experienced School Age Care Educators, Room Leaders and Program Managers who would love the flexibility of working in school age care, at our School Age Care Services and will require experience in providing support to children, some of whom may have additional needs. We are looking to fill a mix of casual, part-time and full-time roles.
Educators and Room Leaders work alongside the Program Manager and in supporting the team in the service to provide high-quality play-based leisure programs and care to school age children. You will work closely with our team of educators to assist them in implementing programs and curriculum that reflects best practice.
School Age Care are required to support services by directly providing play-based leisure experiences and care to children, during before and after school care sessions, and school holiday programs.
About you
You will build and maintain positive relationships with children and families, and the local community. Most importantly, you will make a difference to the lives of children in our care.
You will be a facilitator of continuous improvement, with knowledge of current best practice as well as building your knowledge and skills to implement the Framework for School Age Care: My Time our Place.
It is essential that you have:
- Experience working with school age care children: 4-12 years.
- Experience working with children who require additional support or have additional needs.
- Have a strong working knowledge of the National Quality Framework (My Time Our Place and Being Belonging Becoming) and National Quality Standards
- Have strong interpersonal skills, and a warm and friendly nature.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders with demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A Working with Vulnerable People card; and
- Current first aid/asthma anaphylaxis training.
It is also desirable that you hold or are willing to obtain any of the following qualifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care
- Diploma in School Age Care (OSHC)
- Certificate IV in School Age Care (OSHC)
- Certificate IV in Education Support
- Certificate IV in Youth Work
