The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. A new role awaitsLooking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity leveraging your experience in finance? The NDIA Financial Control Branch is currently seeking talented and motivated individuals to join the Financial Business Partnering team at Executive Level 1.
The Financial Control branch is responsible for financial management of the Agency and Scheme. The Financial Business Partnering team plays a critical role in ensuring financial information is accurate, compliant, and accessible, to support strategic decision making and drive agency success.
Where you can add valueThe EL1 Finance provides technical accounting advice and briefing to the Agency by navigating the Australian Accounting Standards and applicable government financial reporting rules and frameworks.
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to;-
- Reviewing and managing components of the Agency’s trial balance using Systems Applications and Products software (SAP), providing monthly and annual reporting in Central Budget Management System (CBMS) to the Department of Finance;
- Delivering the Agency’s Budget;
- Taking a lead role in the preparation of the Agency’s financial statements and liaising with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) in relation to audit matters.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
The successful candidates will have experience developing reports and dashboards. They will have highly developed stakeholder engagement skills and be a strong communicator, with the ability to present financial information to stakeholders in a meaningful way, particularly to non-financial audiences. Comprehensive experience in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and SAP financial systems is essential for success in these roles, together with the ability to interpret and transform data, and demonstrated ability to engage in complex problem solving and issues management.
We are seeking all-round team players with experience supervising and collaborating with others in a dynamic, geographically disperse, environment.
In line with the values and mission of the NDIA, all applicants should have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability along with extensive understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals.
As these are professional roles, the successful applicants must possess and maintain relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications).

While this role is ideally performed from VIC – Geelong or VIC – Richmond, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
