Housing Division is offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team at the forefront of addressing Australia’s housing challenges. Successful applicants can expect to play a key role in implementing the Government’s housing agenda and developing policy in response to pressures in the housing system in a fast paced but collegiate work environment.
Multiple opportunities are available at the EL1 level across Housing Division. A merit pool will be created to fill future positions.
The key duties of the position include:EL1 Assistant Director
Assistant Directors will:
Contribute to strategic policy advice on Australia’s housing system, ranging from social and affordable housing solutions to housing market policy.
Assist with the design and implementation of new and expanded housing programs, including legislative development.
Work across the Commonwealth, state and territory governments to deliver the Government’s housing agenda.
Conduct research and prepare reports on housing supply and affordability issues to improve the evidence base for housing-related policy.
Successful applicants will have:
Skills in policy development and implementation and/or program management and governance.
Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders from across government and the private sector.
Strong analytical skills to understand complex issues, identify opportunities and implement effective solutions.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to deliver high quality work within a high-pressure environment.
Experience in supervising junior staff members in a flexible work environment and adapt to changing priorities.
EligibilityDesirable Qualifications / ExperienceIdeally, we are looking for candidates with experience in developing policy advice or program delivery who know government processes and have a proven track record of working collaboratively across government to deliver outcomes.
