Scope
The general duties of the position are:
- Provide advice, assistance and training to staff including but not limited to: leading the development of guidance, assessment, analysis and training products; drafting and reviewing work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures; demonstrating live activities with staff.
- Coordinate and lead detailed or sensitive analysis projects impacting on broad strategic or operational outcomes of the section and agency.
- Develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
- Lead the preparation of complex/sensitive reports and briefs to senior management, agency committees and external stakeholders.
- Consider and effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving project outcomes in line with agency goals and objectives.
- Work with a level of independence, under broad direction, with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes.
- Other administrative duties as directed.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in the following is highly desirable:
- Practical experience in business intelligence and reporting including developing and maintaining data processes and the delivery of data products.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor and develop a specialist team and to deliver quality outcomes.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of geographic information systems (GIS), particularly in ESRI ArcGIS Pro or QGIS and the ability to automate GIS activities (e.g. via scripting and application development)
- Knowledge and experience in the use of data tools and languages such as R, RStudio, MS Excel, Python, MS PowerBI, FullCAM, MS Dynamics CRM.
- Experience with database management systems and a knowledge of data management principles and practices.
- A degree or higher-level qualification in a qualitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
