Aboriginal Hostels Limited’s (AHL) vision is to improve the quality of life and opportunities for First Nations People through their national network of hostels.
AHL hostels are a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the APS with approximately 50% of the team Aboriginal and/or a Torres Strait Islander people.
Reporting to the CIO, this role manages a range of activities that support the implementation of better ICT practices in AHL.
The effective and efficient management of AHL’s ICT function directly contributes to supporting hostel staff so they can welcome and manage guests, many of whom have travelled hundreds of km away from home.
The Role
As an EL1 ICT Administrator you will have a wide range of responsibilities including:
- Administrating and troubleshooting M365 including configuring Conditional Access policies and EntraID access groups
- Administrating Windows Desktop and Windows Server in a virtual environment
- Implementing time critical security remediation activities
- Overseeing networks (and associated hardware) across 42 sites around Australia
- Documenting ICT systems and procedures
- Ensuring servers, network hardware, desktop hardware remain current in terms of patching and vulnerability management
People with a strong understanding of First Nations histories and cultures are well suited to this opportunity. You will need to be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations peoples.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in ICT systems administration is required with a tertiary qualification in IT, or progression to the achievement of the qualification highly desirable.
You will also have:
- Considerable knowledge across Microsoft, Linux and networking services
- Experience delivering training to staff in the use of ICT systems
- Proven ability to work under limited direction in a small, busy team
- Experience with Citrix Support and VMWare virtualisation administration
- An existing or the ability to obtain an Australian NV1 or higher Security Clearance (you must be an Australian citizen)
Salary / Rate
This role is a fulltime, permanent opportunity and can be based in AHL’s offices in Canberra or Brisbane.
- $104,763 - $108,169 + 15.4% Super
- Pending the outcome of the AHL’s Enterprise Agreement, employees will receive salary increases
