Elective Surgery Liaison Nurse

Permanent part-time (minimum 56 hours a fortnight)

Northern Hospital - Epping

The Role:

The Elective Surgery Liaison Nurse is responsible for managing the Northern Health Elective Surgery Waiting list, in accordance with the Elective Surgery Access Policy (Victoria State Government 2015).

This role will be responsible for prioritising and managing the patient care required preoperatively, booking of Elective Surgery theatre lists, waitlist audits and management, and problem solving to ensure that time critical patients are cared for in a timely way.

This is Monday-Friday role with flexible family friend working days and office hours with no public holidays or after hours or night duty.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential

• Registered Nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian health practitioner regulation agency (APHRA)
• Clinical Nurse Specialist with demonstrated knowledge and practice in the surgical and peri-operative patients services.
• Demonstrated clinical case management co-ordination experience or skills which would enable exceptional patient case management.
• The ability to work in a multidisciplinary health team.
• Effective organisation, time management and delegation skills
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
• Current National Police and Working with Children History Check
• The Staff Immunisation Questionnaire must be completed by all new employees as part of the mandatory on-boarding process. New employees are not permitted to undertake any activity that requires patient contact prior to clearance by the Staff Immunisation Nurses; this also includes evidence of having the Flu vaccination on a yearly basis. New employees with contra-indications to vaccinations or who decline vaccination are required to attend a face-to-face consultation with the Immunisation Nurses for appropriate documentation of their contraindications or declination. This must be completed PRIOR to commencing any work with Northern Health.
• Current National Police and Working with Children History Check

Experience

• At least 5 years post graduate experience in a surgical setting - theatre, surgical, ICU, ED experience is highly regarded
