About the role
We have 2 key current BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects up to 10MVA (containerised and non-containerised) for which we need to deliver battery controls design works, controls hardware and systems selection, procurement, manufacturing., testing and commissioning. There is also a pipeline of further BESS opportunities.
We are wanting to obtain the services of a suitable Electrical Controls / automation engineer to perform key functions within our BESS focused team. They should have at least 5 years relevant experience in controls and/or automation. We have a strong requirement to deliver improved BESS controls performance.
The engineer will collaborate within a multi-discipline team working on BESS projects and reporting during the secondment to our Manager of BESS and Electrical within the Engineering Services team at TIC ESS (Energy Systems and Solutions).
The role is initially a 2-year contract role based in Winston Hills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design control and electrical solutions for battery systems in accordance with industry standards and approved client specifications.
- Designing electrical schematics, programming and integrating control systems and providing technical support to projects team
- Create and maintain control system layouts
- Select components to fulfil the design efficiently and effectively.
- Program and integrate PLCs, HMIs and other control components ensuring seamless system functionality and performance.
- Program SCADA software and Yokogawa/ Allen Bradley / Siemens Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software to meet design needs.
- Develop and maintain testing and commissioning plans for electrical and control system ensuring system performance meets project requirements.
- Guide external contractor in the manufacture of control panels to meet customer needs
- Work Closely with thhe Senior Controls Engineer and Develop Technical Specification, Functional Description, Control Diagram, Sequence diagram and Electrical schematic documentation to clearly communicate system functionality
- Perform Factory Acceptance Tests and site commissioning testing of control systems
- Liaise with vendors, consultants, customers and other engineers to ensure the effective development, design and maintenance of components, equipment systems
- Perform maintenance and testing of control systems.
- Liaise with clients, TIC and client to provide advice on all technical matters and resolve problems.
- Develop QA ITP’s and commissioning documentation in accordance with TIC guidelines
Our ideal candidate will possess
- Relevant Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent industry experience
- 5 years industry experience
- Proven experience as an Electrical controls engineer.
- Standard MS Office skills
- Proficient with AutoCAD software to design diagrams and control systems
- Expertise in PLC and Sysmech studio, Codesys or similar programming software.
- Previous experience in testing and commissioning of systems
- Knowledge of BESS Design and testing standards IEC 62933, AS 5139
- Knowledge of Design and test requirements for UL (1973, 9540) requirements
- Wide knowledge of electrical control system concepts and applications
- Unrestricted Australian Drivers license and ability to drive in rural locations as required. Driver safety training to be provided.
