SG Controls is an Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, Civil, Structural, and Mechanical Engineering specialist with ISO9001 certification. Operating globally with a focus on hybrid renewable power stations, process plants, mobile machines and bulk handling facilities including stockyard, port, and process plant integration works primarily within the mining industry.

Role opportunity:
We have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Designer to join our Perth based team. This role reports to the Lead Designer.
The Electrical Designer is responsible for successfully delivering electrical designs within scope, time, and budget constraints.
Responsibilities:
- Abide by SG Controls Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
- Liaising with engineers to gather information required.
- Management and administration of drawing deliverables across multiple projects and clients.
- Translate conceptual designs into detailed engineering drawings, general layouts, process flow diagrams, schematics, terminations, and single line drawings.
- Responding to technical queries.
- Ensure designs follow client requirements as well as industry and Australian standards.
- Ensure designs are implemented safely and risks are managed.
Creating and updating drawings with computer-aided design (CAD) software (AutoCAD & MicroStation). Actively promote and adhere to all SG Controls Health, Safety and Environment procedures, and maintain safety as a core value.
- Actively exercise personal ‘Duty of Care’ and take into account the health and safety of yourself and others in the workplace.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and hazards in the workplace to your Supervisor/Manager.
- Achieve the highest standards of health and safety by maintaining a drug and alcohol-free work environment.
- Ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the workplace and anything arising from the workplace does not put at risk the health and safety of SG Controls workers, sub-contractors, and visitors.

Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Tafe Qualification in Engineering or Engineering Design.
- Previous design experience within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
- Creation, modification and interpretation of all drawings: P&ID’s, SLD’s, schematics, general arrangements and termination drawings.
- Experience in computer-aided design and drafting (AutoCAD & MicroStation).
Safety aspects of design and/or operations of machines, plant systems and processes
Desirable but not essential:
- Demonstrated knowledge of contracts, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
- Water Corporation Design and Engineering experience desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge and experience of PLC wiring (not programming) is desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge and experience of Communications equipment and infrastructure including Serial Comms, Fibre Optics and IP comms.
