Lovells Springs is an Australian family-owned large scale industrial spring making plant and has been in continuous production for over 90 years. It supplies Australia's rail, defence, agriculture, mining and automotive aftermarket industries, and operates at Carrington in NSW for typically 18 hours per day.
The plant uses many different technologies, including bar peeling, hot forging, heat treatment using large gas fired combustion systems, mechanical and hydraulic drives, pneumatics, cooling towers and dust filtration systems, automated grinding, injection molding, shot peening, powder coating, and many other complex items of plant.
Due to a forthcoming major project, Lovells is searching for a capable, electrically orientated hand to join our Engineering and Maintenance team. You will be part of a team of fitters, machinists, electricians, welders and T/A's who keep this entire show on the road.
You might have a background in switchboard or other medium scale electrical construction, but this is not essential. You need to be a self-starter who can maintain focus on a large project over multiple years right to its completion.
You do not need an Electrical Trades qualification, just an interest in electrical and electronic technologies, and be capable of operating power tools like hand drills, lug crimpers, heat guns, soldering equipment with some familiarization and training. All necessary additional training will be provided to you. Over time, you may progress to fabricating more complex busbar and transformer assemblies. By the end of this project in a few years, you will be a very skilled builder of complex high-power electrical assemblies.
Normal working hours are 7 am to 3 pm weekdays. Overtime is available if required. This position may also suit a qualified electrical tradesman who has reached that stage in life where full time work is no longer a necessity and prefers to work reduced hours in your transition to full retirement.
You will report to the company’s Senior Electrical Engineer, who together with our Mechanical and Electrical Tradesmen will be looking to you to help bring this cutting-edge project to reality. You will make a very significant contribution to the successful development of this iconic plant, the only one of its type in Australia, into its second century.
