We have a permanent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer – Emerging Technology within our Operations Division to be located in our Newstead, Townsville or Rockhampton offices inviting suitability qualified candidates to apply.
The Electrical Engineer – Emerging Technologyis an expert in their field and provides RPEQ day-to-day and strategic engineering advice on the complex dynamics of Energy Queensland’s (EQL) high voltage power systems. The role provides first-in technical expertise and support to Network Operations’ group and other internal and external customers as a primary means of achieving Network Operations business objectives; and provides strategic input into emerging technologies, market and policy initiatives.

Provide direction and decisions for the operation of the network to meet the organisations operating philosophy, which may require out-of-the-box solutions, including the key areas of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Stand Alone Power Systems (SAPS), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) and other Emerging Technology, market and policy initiatives.
This is a very niche, interesting, and exciting part of the business to be involved in. This is a brand-new team working with many other divisions in Energy Queensland. If you would like to utilise your engineering degree to solve real-time operational problems using emerging technologies, whilst having a positive impact in the lives of Queenslanders, this is the role for you.
The position has been evaluated as PM3. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About You:
In addition to your Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineeringand your RPEQ membership, you will have technical knowledge and experience with Network Operations and the greater EQL business.
You are someone who has ability to build knowledge and currency in new and emerging technologies (including BESS, SAPS and DERMS), and how they apply to the industry.
