The Opportunity
Western Australia has received considerable commitment to projects over the last 12+ months and as we head into 2024, we are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for highly skilled Electrical Engineers for upcoming mining projects in 2024 to contribute their expertise.
As an Electrical Engineer, your position can involve overseeing the design, planning, execution and maintenance of mining projects related to power generation and transmission, fixed plant equipment, bulk materials handling equipment or heavy mobile equipment. The role carries significant responsibilities in terms of ensuring that engineering and technical activities are conducted effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. These positions play crucial roles in the successful completion and operations of projects, which directly impacts the company's reputation, client satisfaction, and overall business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Electrical Engineering support site-based engineers and engineering projects.
- Provide technical advice to planning and site-based maintenance teams to ensure the safety and integrity of electrical systems across the business.
- Carry out electrical design and project tasks, following Australian standards.
- Investigate electrical system failures and implement measures to improve reliability.
- Use statistical tools to analyze failure data and improve equipment reliability.
- Work with operations and maintenance teams to enhance overall equipment performance.
- Propose and implement solutions for complex equipment challenges.
- Contribute to identifying, developing, and executing improvement projects.
- Support ongoing enhancements to electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for operational reliability and KPI reporting.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia and 5+ years’ industry experience (3+ post-graduate) in an Electrical Engineering role within the mining & mineral processing sector in Australia.
- Thorough knowledge of power generation and transmission, fixed plant equipment, bulk materials handling equipment or heavy mobile equipment is essential.
- Expert level knowledge of power system modelling tools: DIgSILENT, ETAP & PowerCAD.
- Effortless problem-solving skills with root cause analysis.
- A curious an innovative mindset, showcasing adept problem-solving skills, with an eagerness for continuous learning.
- Ability to work across various discipline projects, establish project criteria, and manage competing project elements.
- Ability to make and defend decisions, often with limited information.
- Eagerness to be based on or travel to site to build stakeholder relationships and to gain in-depth practical understanding.
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
