Electrical Fire Engineering Technician
Our company located in Sydney’s West is currently seeking a full time Electrical Engineering Technician specializing in Fire Services to develop detailed design drawings and related specifications.
The primary objectives of the role consist of the design and documentation of Electrical Fire systems for contract projects in accordance with the relevant standards. Also required is the ability to manage the design work in a manner that maintains project estimates and forecasts and ensures materials and equipment are delivered within project timeframes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed drawings and plans of Automatic Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.
- Interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate drawings with client and other parties’ requirements.
- Operating and implementing coordinated work programs for sites.
- Ensuring adherence to building legislation and standards of performance, quality, cost and safety.
- Overall project planning, organisation and administration.
- Carry out field work, including site inspections to determine and evaluate existing services that will need to be considered in design layout.
- Utilize CAD software to prepare drawings and utilize additional task specific software to develop designs.
- Program and scheduling to meet project requirements.
- Prepare list of materials and order materials, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Carry out cost analysis regularly to monitor project budgeting and financial performance.
- Utilize Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- The qualification required for this role is a Diploma or higher or at least 3 years relevant work experience.
- Exceptional knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised is a must.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as design specifications, contracts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Knowledge of the relevant Australian Standards and BCA Code beneficial but not required.
