With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour's drive from the CBD, Melbourne's North is fast becoming the place to be!The Role:We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable Nurse Unit Manager for Ward 5 - Haematology & Oncology Unit based at our Epping campus.This is a full-time, permanent position. 80 Hours/FN.The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our 24-bed ward as well as providing leadership that promotes the advancement of clinical practice.You will be managing our wonderful supportive caring team that cares for the Haematology and Oncology cohort of patients and advance care which includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, iron infusions, and blood transfusions. Our staff are chemotherapy competent and follow EVIQ guidelines.The successful candidate will need to demonstrate extensive leadership experience in this area whilst being driven to ensure a high quality of patient-centred care is delivered ensuring an exceptional patient experience. They must also have strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with all key stakeholders.Key focus areas for this role include:
- Having a strong leadership presence and delivering an exceptional patient experience within the unit.
- Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care.
- Managing clinical risk and implementing process improvements to improve patient outcomes.
- Working in collaboration with medical staff, the oncology/haematology unit and the leadership team to ensure patient care is holistic, safe, supportive and of high-quality care
- Building and nurturing a strong capable workforce within the unit
- Promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for all staff within the unit
- Recruitment, retention, professional development of staff, financial management, occupational health and safety

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA.
- Post Graduate Degree (or working towards) in hospital or health services, administration, management or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in managing cancer Services cohort & relevant skillsets/qualifications.
- ADAC trained (or commitment to training)
- Minimum 5 years post graduate experience.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and knowledge related to oncology & haematology nursing.
- Proven leadership and change management experience.
- Demonstrated clinical innovation with high level change management.
