Job description:

Join us at Pacific Blue to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Pacific Blue Haughton Solar Farm and any additional future assets added to the site . The role will be based at Haughton Solar Farm with various activities to maximise asset availability and assist with the construction of future Assets associated with any expansion of the farm.

Located in North Queensland's Burdekin Shire (60km from Ayr and 90km from Townsville), Haughton Solar Farm is a large-scale solar photovoltaic power station. The solar farm is being built in stages with the first 100MW of the project opened in 2019. Once all stages are complete, Haughton Solar Farm is expected to have a generating capacity of up to 500MW, enough to power approximately 291,000 homes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


Asset Management Excellence

  • Perform condition monitoring actives associated with all aspects of the solar farm, including the identification of defects required to be mitigated to balance performance, risks and costs.
  • Perform upgrades and modifications on all mechanical, electrical, SCADA and civil assets associated with Haughton Solar Farm as required.
  • Support the Haughton Solar Farm Manager with the schedule of site activities, and manage shutdown activities as required.
  • Assist to develop safe working procedures. Improving site reliability and efficiency where possible
  • Report equipment condition and raise non-conformances if required
  • Assist Operations Engineers as required
  • Assist with spare parts stocktakes
  • Complete all ongoing and one-off training requirements
  • Order spare parts as per Pacific Blue procurement policy
  • Assist in the continued refinement of Pacific Blue's asset management plan and participate in the annual asset management planning activity
  • Travel as required to Melbourne head office and other locations for training requirements (interstate and international travel may be required).

Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled/preventative maintenance in accordance with procedures and service schedule timings on all mechanical, electrical SCADA, instrumentation and civil assets associated with Haughton Solar Farm.
  • Perform reactive maintenance on all mechanical, electrical SCADA and civil assets associated with Haughton Solar Farm as required
  • Conduct shutdown activities outside of daylight hours to minimise lost generation when required.
  • Provide on call services out of normal work hours and attend site if required to restore normal operations or carry out maintenance functions.
  • Monitor Solar farm activities via SCADA communications out of hours as required.
  • Perform scheduled servicing on fire protection equipment associated with Haughton Solar Farm.
  • Perform site electrical infrastructure repairs and maintenance as directed.
  • Supervise all contractors and ensure compliance with Pacific Blue and any relevant jurisdictional safety rules.
  • Complete maintenance paperwork and use the Computerised Maintenance Management System to plan and document maintenance works
  • Respond to alarms and attend site outside normal working hours to undertake reactive maintenance as required.
  • Complete maintenance extension/waivers, defect reports and change management requests when required by company procedures.
  • Supervise, maintain and carry out differing vegetation management methods when required including but not limited to pasture trials, sheep husbandry.

Health & Safety Excellence

  • Report all incidents, accidents or near misses
  • Produce reports on any safety, environmental and plant and equipment incident.
  • Looking for and reporting opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by procedures and safe work method statements or direction from Pacific Blue
  • Participate in safety, toolbox or other meetings where required
  • Consult with employees and contractors on all matters relating to HSE including purchase of new plant, equipment and chemicals, changes to the workplace, work practices and development or changes to procedures as relevant to the role.
  • Work in a manner that ensures the safety of personnel and protects the environment
  • Perform Site Inductions for contractors and others as required

Knowledge and experience:

  • Electrical Trade certificate and Qld Electrician's licence
  • First Aid Level 2
  • Minimum 5 years electrical operation and maintenance
  • High Voltage Operator and permit recipient training and experience.
  • Experience with DC systems > 1000V
  • Elevated work platform accreditation
  • Doggers Qualification
  • Solar generation operations and maintenance experience
  • Understanding the need for high plant availability and performance
  • Ability to work in a small team environment
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety considerations
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and follow applicable safety standards and procedures.
  • Certificate 4 WHS highly regarded

Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy and able to use the Microsoft Office suite, SCADA software and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Willingness to share ideas and lessons learnt
  • Ability to read and understand plant schematics and equipment manuals.
