The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Participate as a senior manager in the fixed plant maintenance team including managing the complete business unit in the absence of the Fixed Plant Maintenance Manager.
- Actively participate in the coaching and mentoring of staff to ensure that management and technical skills are improved over time.
- In collaboration with reliability and maintenance planning functions interrogate, review, and update the work management system to improve maintenance efficiency, reliability and reduce costs.
- Develop, implement and improve systems and processes in the electrical and instrumentation areas to ensure operational reliability and safety is continuously improved.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operating personnel to develop engineering solutions to improve safety and maintenance effectiveness to deliver on business performance.
- Develop a longer-term power strategy for Hidden Valley, co-generation between PNG Power Limited (PPL) and generators.
- Ensure that electrical standards are reviewed and compliance to mining legislation and safety requirements are met.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing of electrical supervisors.
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly reports for the Executive team.
- Develop and manage budgeting practices within your area of responsibility for Fixed Plant Maintenance business unit.
- Attend site management meetings and ensuring the completion of action items within the prescribed timeframe.
- Review and approve invoices, employee's timesheets and leave applications.
- Development of contract forms for both onsite and offsite work requirements.
- Development of capital justifications.
- Accountability as senior personnel for plant outages including shutdowns.
- Contractor management experience of diverse work fronts and work groups.
You should be a self-motivated professional holding the following experience:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years’ experience at a supervisory level.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the mining industry at an open pit operation.
- Highly experienced in the maintenance of mineral processing plants.
- Extensive experience implementing preventative and corrective maintenance programs in a continuous improvement environment.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are necessary along with an appreciation for PNG culture.
