About Our Role
An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of Electrical Project Engineer at our Ulverstone food manufacturing facility. Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community and its location on the banks of the Leven River makes it ideally close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes grow. We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year whilst employing over 450 people.
Site capabilities / products include fries (coated & uncoated + different cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns whilst we have 8 automated packing lines. Our customers include the leading restaurant chains, major and independent supermarkets in addition to the food service industry.
Simplot has heavily invested in the future of our Ulverstone operations with major line & infrastructure upgrades, and with a further $7 million of projects in the pipeline, this is an exciting time to join the home of Australia's favourite foods.
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, in this role you will assume responsibility for the controlling and delivering of electrical engineering projects (conception to completion). You will partner with our mechanical, wider engineering & maintenance teams in addition to the site operations and management teams to complete these projects safely, on time and on budget in accordance with best practice PM principles and relevant standards & regulations.
- Feasibility & scoping
- Design, tender & contract
- Construct / install
- Commissioning & handover
- Lead Electrical engineering support resources in design review, scope development and execution strategies
- Ensure adherence to high standards of electrical service delivery, aligning with industry best practice and procedural compliance
- Foster clear and effective communication within the project team
- Uphold environmental standards throughout all phases of electrical design and construction
About You
- A 100% commitment to health & safety in the workplace
- Possess a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with CPEng and RPEQ qualifications being advantageous
- Demonstrated experience within the role of Electrical Project Engineer (ideally FMCG)
- Proficiency in PLC programming and experience with industrial communication protocols
- Strong understanding of control systems, electrical schematics and P&ID drawings
- Experience in managing multiple multidisciplinary projects and groups of contractors
- Ability to liaise with a diverse demographic of stakeholders
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
