Your new role:
The Electrical System Engineer shall be responsible for conducting Systems Engineering design, development and testing of complex Military Land Electrical Systems involving vehicle health monitoring, Battery Storage, RF, Network, Communications and Power Management Systems. The Electrical Systems Engineer will manage the Electrical Architecture development within the Platform and collaborate closely with the C4I Engineering team. The Electrical Systems Engineer will support and manage subcontractors within the Electronic Architecture boundary across the Electrical and C4I functional groups. The Electrical Systems Engineer will exercise a degree of independence, under guidance from engineering leadership, to perform Systems Engineering tasks and achieve technical outcomes in support of HDA programmes, within an integrated team. The Electrical Systems Engineer will require knowledge of, and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and the customer’s mission and requirements.
Your primary areas of responsibility:
• Perform critical and complex engineering activities in the field of:
- Vehicle Electrical Systems.
- Lighting, Power Management and Distribution, Battery Storage Systems.
- Health Usage and Monitoring Systems (HUMS).
- Australian Generic Vehicle Architecture.
- Electrical safety.
- Compliance with Australian Design Rules (ADR).
- Military Standards and Specifications
- ASDEFCON Systems and Processes
• Work within the Electrical Engineering team that is responsible for the Electrical Engineering design of HDA materials.
• Undertake Systems Engineering activities including requirements analysis and management, system safety, configuration audits, verification, and validation activities.
• Assist in the development, preparation, and on-time delivery of all Engineering DIDs and supporting activities.
• Evaluation of delivered material against customer requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
• Support risk analysis to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored, and mitigated.
• Monitor and ensure safety aspects of the system solution are considered and incorporated into engineering activities.
About you:
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering.
Experience:
• Previous Experience in an Electrical Systems Engineering Role.
• Experience in the following areas would be considered advantageous:
- Familiar with Australian Design Rules and Australian Standards (i.e. AS/NZS 3000).
- Experience with Electrical, Electronics and/or Systems Integration in Military Applications.
- Experience in using Military Standards and Specification for designing Military Electrical / Electronic Architectures desirable but not required
- Working with large Vehicles platforms (preferably Military or Commercial Vehicles).
- Experience with designing Military or Automotive Electrical Systems.
- 2D ECAD Cable Designs – Preferably Cable or Wire Harness design in Zuken E3.Series or similar.
- 3D CAD Cable Routing – Experience with 3D Cable Routing in CATIA or 3D Experience will be desirable.
