Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a qualified Electrician to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine for the Hoisting and shafts team reporting to the supervisor. This role is based on a residential, reporting directly to the Hoisting and Shaft Supervisor.

The Role
You will be required to work on a variety of tasks, with an opportunity to develop your technical skills and industry knowledge. This position is residential in Mount Isa and require you to work 4 on, 4 off, 4 on, 2 off day shift only roster, providing grounds for an excellent work-life balance.
The hoisting team manage Hoists otherwise referred to as mine winders which transport people and material to and from the underground environment
In this role you will use your trade experience to perform maintenance activities in a team environment whilst ensuring safety. In addition, tasks of the role include routine maintenance, breakdown work, installation, problem diagnosis and predictive maintenance tasks. You will be required to think logically to solve problems and have the tenacity to work until a solution is found.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Electrical and instrument inspections;
- Preventative maintenance and repairs, as well as installations to support the hoists;
- Fault finding and trouble-shooting electrical issues and breakdowns;
- HV and LV motors, variable speed drives, soft starters, PLC and conveyor systems;
- ABB systems;
- Supporting improvement projects that aim to reduce unplanned stoppages
- Maintaining and improving OH&S and overall operational standards in the workplace;
- Manage and maintain friendly and professional relationships with clients, staff & management.
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
- A valid Queensland Electrical licence is mandatory for this role, with an instrumentation qualification preferred.
- Comply with company policies and procedures

- Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Willingness and ability to learn new processes;
