Limestone Coast Local Health Network, Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service, Emergency Department
Indicative Total Remuneration: $103,690 - $168,320 p.a. - Multiple positions: Temp F/T (three year contract from commencement) - MDP2
Overview
You will be responsible for managing the care of patients presenting to the Emergency Department in consultation with the responsible Registrars, Consultants, Visiting Specialists, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. Appropriately escalating doubts or concerns to the attention of the Consultant immediately, you will provide effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care at the change of daily shifts and on admission. You will commence discharge planning at the earliest opportunity, writing accurate and timely discharge summaries and undertaking follow-up in consultation with the patient’s normal carers and General Practitioner. Maintaining a high standard of patient care for patients, you will keep high quality, readily accessible records of patient care through the completion of Electronic Medical Records. As part of your role, you will actively contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement activities and education activities, including participating in the Emergency Department’s continuing professional development, research and teaching program.
You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, and be registrable as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia. With appropriate postgraduate experience in the provision of medical care, you will demonstrate competency in a range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills. This will be supported by high level skills in negotiation and communication and the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their family/relatives. You will work well both as a team member and individually, and be skilled in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level.
