THE POSITION:
Our client, who is based in regional Queensland, is seeking multiple Emergency Medicine Specialist for their busy Emergency Department.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Emergency Medicine Clinical Director.
A key part of this role will be assisting the Clinical Director in providing an appropriate teaching program and to ensure the supervision of clinical practice and training of undergraduates and postgraduates in the emergency department.
Our client is looking for EMERGENCY MEDICINE SPECIALISTs that have strong and effective communication, conflict management and team-building skills as well as being proficient in leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills, and developed in written and verbal communication skills.
THE HOSPITAL:
The 300+ bed regional referral hospital serves a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employs more than 3,700 staff.
Their emergency department sees a wide range of complex multi-specialty cases with an annual attendance rate of 50,000 presentations, and 25% of those being paediatrics.
Services offered include a 24/7 Emergency Department, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES:
- Clinical leadership and management roles primarily involve supporting the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine in quality and risk management activities.
- Support and assist in the training of medical students, junior medical staff and nursing staff involved in the management of EMERGENCY MEDICINE patients.
- Participate in the Hospitals Healthcare Medical Emergency Response Plan.
- Participation in relevant research activities.
- Comply with continuing educational activities as outlined by ACEM and other relevant professional bodies.
- Perform other duties the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine might reasonably direct from time to time.
- Providing support and leadership to promote excellence in medical education.
- Being supportive and promoting research within the hospitals and the community where required.
- Broad experience in the field of Emergency Medicine to enable confident clinical practice within a regional area.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Emergency Physicians.
- Have a commitment to quality improvement activities relating to Emergency Medicine practice.
- Effective communication, conflict management and team building skills.
- Experience with training needs of junior medical staff.
- Leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills are recommended, as are developed written and verbal communication skills.
