Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Emergency Response (ER) Coordinator to manage a team of Safety Advisor, Emergency Response and OHS coverage to all Thunderbox Operations. You will be responsible for coordinating training and development for Operational Emergency Response team members on a FIFO 8/6 roster.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Coordinating Emergency Response training and ensuring competency levels of ER team members are maintained to a high level
Ensuring Emergency Response equipment and associated accessories are serviced and maintained within appropriate timeframes and by suitably qualified personnel
Ensuring the Emergency Response facility is maintained and stocked to a high degree
Ensuring emergency preparedness for operation 24/7
Preparedness of an Emergency Response team for immediate mobilisation to incidents and accidents, cross multiple rosters
Provide input in relation to safety systems, policies, and procedures to be followed by site personnel in compliance with local, State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Regulations
Inspecting the site's facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommend corrective or preventative measures, where indicated
Provide an advisory and supportive role to Department Heads into HSEC issues and incident/accident investigation processes and reporting requirements
Devising, supervising, and coordinating safety inductions and associated training programs to increase awareness of safety in the workplace
Communicate changes to systems, processes, and procedures.
Actively promote, monitor, and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
Moderate INX System, input data, produce reports with a high level of attention to detail.
Responds to site emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team Including being on call in a fit state at all times and adhering to the Fitness for Work Policy.
Assist Site nurse with any First aid response and support as required.
Other related duties as directed
Required skills and experience:
Certificate III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue or similar
Certificate IV Workplace Health & Safety
Certificate IV Training & Assessment
Nationally recognised unit of competency - Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing (preferred)
Familiarity with INX database modules such as InTuition, InFlight and InControl
Current Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
5 years' experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine, processing and exploration (Preferred)
Working knowledge of the WHS Act 2020 and WH&S (Mines) Regulations 2022
Experience in incident investigations (ICAM highly regarded)
Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and Safe Act Observations
Familiarity with INX database modules such as InTuition, Inflight and InControl.
Advanced skills in excel, word processing and database applications with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
Strong report writing and presentation skills.
