As a full-time member of the Leichhardt Uniting Church (LUC, we pronounce it ‘luck’) staff team, provide pastoral support and develop a strong sense of community among residents of Epworth House (epworthhouse.org.au), and resource ministry with young families through “LUCy Ducks”. This is a flexible role; the worker is able to work from home some days of the week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:- Enact a pastoral approach to the day-to-day operations of the Epworth House residential facility
- Act as an ambassador to promote the growth of Epworth House through promotion and community engagement activities
- Resource LUC’s ministry with children and young families
- Support ministers and Pastoral Care Team with congregational youth pastoral care needs
- Experience in a similar role highly regarded
- Experience in having faith-based conversations with young adults and children
- Proven ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and foster a sense of community
- Exposure to working in a faith-based NFP or organisation beneficial
- Personal affinity with Uniting Church values, mission and strategic direction
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work flexibly as part of a small, cohesive team
- A preparedness to work within the polity and ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia and LUC, including developing an understanding of the Basis of Union
- Strong commitment to the values and praxis of Anti-Racism, cultural safety and the affirmation of LGBTQIA+ peoples and communities
- Working With Children Check (to be conducted prior to employment)
- Safe Church Awareness training (to be completed within the first 3 months of employment)
- Ability to work required hours flexibly, including on weekends or on-call arrangements
- Ability to use mainstream software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Willingness to be a role model for young adults who are exploring and developing faith
- Willingness to work collaboratively with parents and other leaders in children’s ministry
- Willingness to work with people from diverse ages, cultural backgrounds, sexualities and gender identities
