We're excited to announce a range of new community engagement roles in our Central Australian Regional teams. This is your chance to collaborate with communities across the vibrant and diverse Central Australian Region (CAR) in the Northern Territory.
As an Engagement Director in one of our dynamic teams, you'll have the unique opportunity to work directly with communities, including key senior leaders and local service providers. Forging strong partnerships across all levels of government, you'll drive outcomes that align with the aspirations of communities.
Step into Central Australia – a land of stunning natural beauty and ancient cultures that many Australians dream of experiencing. Here, you'll work alongside First Nations Peoples, who continue to maintain their ancient connection to country and share their rich culture and language. These immediate positions are based in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
In addition, some regional and remote-based positions may be eligible for:
- reasonable relocation support can be negotiated on case-by-case basis
- Remote Locality Allowance
- additional Annual Leave of seven (7) days per-annum (as a remote locality)
- dependant/s (partner/ children) who reside with the employee
- access to annual remote locality leave fare/s.

As the lead Commonwealth Agency for Indigenous Australians affairs, you will need to have an appreciation, awareness and understanding of matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities and be committed to strengthening your ongoing cultural competency:
To be successful in an EL2 Engagement Director role you will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- demonstrate a high level of cultural competency and sensitivity
- provide proactive leadership, mentoring and support to your colleagues and/or staff to achieve outcomes and to deliver the agency’s broader objectives, including the provision of strategic directions for key stakeholders, providers and partners
- draft and coordinate ministerial briefings, correspondence and executive/minister visits and provide high quality assurance services
- actively build and maintain strong working relationships through collaboration with a variety of stakeholders
- have strong communication skills and the ability to work and communicate respectfully and positively with First Nations peoples and communities in collaboration on activities to support both community and government aspirations
- have well developed organisational skills, including ability to adapt to change and manage competing priorities
- facilitate the development and management of policy and program processes, procedures and projects
- problem solve and apply critical thinking to analyse information from various sources (including data) to identify gaps and suggest improvements.
