The Biomedical Engineering Department ensures that all biomedical equipment used for patient treatment in the Hospital network is functional, safe and conforms to Australian regulatory requirements. The Department also provides key Hospital personnel with advice on the optimum usage, purchasing and replacement of medical equipment
POSITION SUMMARY
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced biomedical engineer to join the Biomedical Engineering team at Alfred Health. The Biomedical Engineering department is responsible for maintenance, servicing, development and management of medical devices in the Alfred Health hospital network. The Biomedical Engineer (Asset Administration) is an experienced engineer who demonstrates leadership, mature knowledge, judgement and broad policy control in issues relating to medical device maintenance and asset management.
We are seeking a motivated and conscientious person, capable of fitting in quickly to a progressive and professional team. Applicants must have a relevant engineering qualification; a minimum of five years' direct experience in clinical engineering and related asset management; a good working knowledge of medical device IT systems; and proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and clinical stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Academic: Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) or equivalent approved qualification or experience, eligible for membership of Engineers Australia.
- Practical: Minimum of five years' direct experience in clinical engineering, including the maintenance and administration of biomedical equipment in a large and complex organisation.
- Personal: Proven ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and to mentor and educate technical personnel.
