Job Summary
The Network consists of a multi-technology mix including physical access mediums across fibre, copper, HFC, FTTx, Fixed Wireless and Satellite to deliver high speed internet services.
The Fixed Wireless site expansion program expands the coverage and uplift wholesale speeds available on the fixed wireless network. This expansion program will involve upgrading and configuring various network elements across fixed wireless access (RF and Transmission) networks.
This position will take a lead role in the coordination and execution of planned changes to configure and integrate network elements such as Mini-links, Basebands, NPU's, RRU's, RAU's, Cisco NCS540 etc.
At a summary level this team under the direction of the Network Implementation Manager will plan and manage the execution of works to minimise customer service impacts, optimise SLAs and customer experience.
Roles & Responsibility
To be successful in this position you will be a flexible self-starter and have 3+ years telecommunications experience in the wireless industry, ideally in RF and transmission engineering. You will have an understanding and experience in the management and configuration of Cisco routers, Ericsson LTE, network management and configuration systems.
- Complete Hardware & Firmware upgrades to Fixed Wireless Network and HFC Network Elements.
- Ensure Network is uplifted to new hardware & firmware versions and Upgrades completed as per program schedules.
- Complete Spectrum changes in the DOCSIS Platform.
- Performing node splitting and customer migration to enhance, balance and transfer of customers.
- Expected works coordinated and executed in tight timelines.
- Migration of Microwave link to the newly high port density routers.
- Performing End to End testing for Cisco routers.
- Assist in validating and submitting Planned Change requests.
- Coordinate pre-configuration, Site integration, migration activities and review site design.
- Coordinate pre/post activity end user health checks, stakeholder communication and Post Implementation Review.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification & Experience
Essential Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications, Electrical or Tertiary qualifications in telecommunications related disciplines or equivalent
- 3 years minimum within telecommunications preferably wireless industry with a focus on RF and configuration management
- A Strong background in fixed wireless access network or radio networks with experience on LTE specifically on Ericsson hardware is highly desired.
- Solid routing/switching background, ideally on Cisco devices (fixed wireless configuration activities are deployed on Cisco routers).
- Demonstrated ability to work to develop their functional competencies through process improvements.
- Familiarity with current telecommunications technology developments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver in a rapidly evolving technical environment.
- The ability to develop and implement complex processes and procedures.

Working Hours
Work week is typically 5 days a week, with 35% activities deployed night-time and 65% daytime (includes at least one Sat/Sun every fortnight). A typical workday on instances can run up to 12hrs (especially for a weekend activity).
Typical day shift, Monday to Friday could be 7-3/8-4/9-5, depends on what state and field availability. Sat/Sun, it will be between 6am and 6pm - note that we do not expect an engineer to work every weekend. Night works are Monday to Friday, typically between 12am and 9am (local time).
