Deliver excellence in best practice Engineering & Maintenance Management
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia.
Your role in achieving Capcoal Opencut's Vision is to be accountable for the delivery of the annual maintenance and engineering targets with zero harm to employees and contractors, including technical advice to the General Manager and Site Leadership Team on means to optimise equipment availability and reliability.
This is achieved through the effective leadership of the engineering and maintenance team to develop and implement plans, monitor performance, and complete work activities in accordance with corporate policy and procedures. In the medium term, the Engineering and Maintenance Manager will demonstrate ongoing performance improvement and develop key strategies to optimise business value.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all site interactions and take full ownership for safety on site
- Lead the development and ongoing management of a reliable 5 year maintenance and engineering plan
- Create and implement rolling 3 to 12 month plans that optimise availability and reliability of mining equipment
- Monitor performance against plan and lead the maintenance and engineering team to identify risks to delivering the plan
- Visibly lead by example and set clear, consistent expectations, including consistent use of systems, symbols and behaviours aligned to Anglo American values
- As a member of the Capcoal Opencut Senior Leadership Team (SLT) this role contributes significantly to the leadership of Capcoal opencut and is required to collaborate fully with other SLT members
- Managed engineering and/or maintenance function in a similar heavy industry business
- Extensive experience in asset management, ideally within a coal mining environment
- Development of systems, strategies and training, including management of safety and health management systems
- Proven track record of problem solving with measurable results
- Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence and achieve buy in from key stakeholders
- Full-time permanent position based at Capcoal Opencut, Middlemount
