Technical Excellence
- Lead by example in software development, contributing to the Java codebase and maintaining technical excellence.
- Collaborate with engineers to review, optimise, and maintain critical code components.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies to drive technical innovation within the team.
- Define and execute the engineering team's delivery strategy, ensuring initiatives are completed on time and within scope.
- Implement agile methodologies to improve efficiency and delivery predictability.
- Monitor initiative progress and take proactive measures to mitigate risks and overcome obstacles.
- Establish and enforce coding standards and best practices to maintain high code quality and security.
- Implement code review processes to identify and address quality issues early in the development lifecycle.
- Continuously assess and improve the quality of software products through automated testing and other quality assurance practices.

- Lead a team of 5 highly skilled engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members to help them grow and excel in their roles.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment where team members feel motivated and engaged.
- Lead the development and execution of the engineering team's strategic initiatives, aligning them with the company's long-term goals.
- Identify emerging technologies and trends that can drive innovation and competitive advantage.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability within the engineering team.
- Set clear objectives, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with overall business goals.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between technical and business objectives.
- Act as a liaison between the engineering team and the broader tech community, participating in conferences, meetups, and knowledge sharing events.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 6+ years proven experience in Java software development, with a deep understanding of best practices and code quality.
- Prior experience in a leadership role, managing and developing engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to balance technical and leadership responsibilities effectively.
- Passionate about leadership, collaboration and innovation.
