Job Description
Australia's leading broadcast video-on-demand platform, 9Now, offers a destination for consumers around Australia to catch up on their favourite programs and watch live TV anywhere, anytime, on their chosen device.
We’re looking for a highly-skilled technical leader with proven people and development team management experience to lead a team of engineers focused on delivering an amazing experience on Connected TVs.
You will have a passion for managing people and a background in building high-quality front-end applications. You will be able to organise and motivate teams to consistently deliver on significant roadmaps of enhancements and lead a team of high-performing Engineers.
You are adept at explaining and articulating complex technical concepts with your peers and business stakeholders. You will manage multiple relationships, including product managers, senior tech leadership and external vendors.
Day to day you will:
- Lead, manage and mentor a small team of frontend software engineers
- Work with stakeholders to provide technical solutions to problems or issues
- Act as an enabler, removing roadblocks and single points of sensitivities for your team and stakeholders by cross-skilling your team when possible
- Maintain high-quality standards for yourself and software engineering practices of your team
- Work with team members to guide solutions towards business and technology goals
- Drive the continuous improvement of processes and ways of work to improve team capacity, capability and adoption of best practices and best-in-class technology
- Provide one-on-one feedback, career advice and coaching for your team members
- Communicate openly and be the voice of the business within your team, keeping them informed of and working towards the business vision & goals

What you’ll know
- Previous experience as a senior or lead front-end engineer
- Strong experience in web or software development (ideally 4 years minimum)
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on development capability, ideally in Javascript and ReactJS
- Proven skills in creating a high-performance team environment
- Managing yourself and your team in a fast-changing environment with competing priorities
- A strong understanding of agile development best practices including Scrum and Lean methodologies
- Excellent communication skill
